Support Our Permanent Foster Cats

Our main goal will always be to find loving forever homes for our foster cats. However, in some cases this can be difficult, unethical or even impossible – particularly when cats are elderly, have complex behavioural needs or suffer from long term health conditions that require lifelong medication, potential surgeries or costly ongoing treatment and diets. In these situations, it can feel unfair to both the cat and a potential owner to attempt rehoming. For this reason, our team at Tesa’s Rescue would love to keep our unadoptable cats with us for life. This means finding permanent foster homes where each cat can receive love, kindness and stability. With the support of our amazing community of animal lovers, we care for these cats long term and provide everything they need. We have created a sponsorship scheme for the 5 permanent foster cats currently in our care, where kind supporters donate £10 per month to help cover essential costs such as food/special diets, litter and medication. We are incredibly grateful that people love our foster cats as much as we do. If you would like to sponsor one of these wonderful cats with a small monthly donation and help support their lifelong care, we would be delighted to hear from you.

AJ

17 year-old gorgeous calico princess who came into our care after her adoring owner was sadly admitted to hospital. AJ has never been particularly fond of other animals or people. She is now very settled in her permanent foster home, where she is deeply loved and cared for, she happily accepts cuddles and tummy tickles.

Skinny Minnie

A very handsome 14 year-old black male who was found as a stray by a kind member of the public. Despite efforts to locate his owner, sadly no one came forward. Minnie was extremely underweight and following a vet check we discovered he was suffering from thyroid disease. Unfortunately, medication made very little difference so on veterinary advice Minnie underwent a thyroidectomy. When his condition still failed to improve, further investigations revealed the presence of ectopic thyroid tissue in his chest, a rare developmental defect. Due to Minnie’s age, overall health and the location of the tissue (which would require highly invasive open chest surgery), the vet felt that further surgery would be far too risky. Minnie is now back on lifelong medication, with the dosage adjusted, and requires regular blood tests to ensure he stays stable. He is absolutely adored by his foster mum who spoils him rotten just as he deserves.

Frankie

18 year-old super handsome black male who was sadly abandoned by his owners when they relocated. Kind neighbours fed him for some time before eventually bringing him to the vet in the hope of finding a solution for him. Frankie was found to have a severe facial abscess, which sadly developed into FORLs – a painful dental disease that causes the teeth to break down, leading to neurological damage. In addition, Frankie also suffers from early-stage kidney failure and heart disease. Despite everything, Frankie remains a very happy boy. All of his conditions are currently well managed with medication, fluids when needed and a special diet. As he is no longer able to groom himself properly, his amazing foster mum gives him soothing baths to keep him comfortable and clean. Frankie enjoys sun bathing in the secure back garden on warm days and loves nothing more than drinking water from the faucet (sink or shower!) and from his water fountain. We are so glad you’re here with us little guy!

Jess

9 year-old black beauty who sadly came into our care after her loving owner became unwell and had to move into a care home. Following a vet check, we discovered that Jess suffers from herpes and chlamydia in both eyes – conditions that are extremely contagious to other cats. This is most likely the result of an untreated infection that had been present for a long time. Jess is now on lifelong medication and supplements. Her condition has improved significantly but it cannot be cured and should she experience any flare ups, we will always be there to provide immediate medical care. Jess adores sunbathing on her cat-proofed balcony and thoroughly enjoys being the centre of attention.

Charlotte

14 year-old tortie delight who was sadly neglected by her owner to the brink of death. When she came into our care she was emaciated, severely infested with fleas, had lost most of her fur and we learnt she was deaf. Physically, Charlotte has improved tremendously but her skin issues have remained. Despite trying every possible treatment to keep her comfortable, the only things that prevent her from tearing at her skin and causing herself to bleed are regular steroid injections and a special diet. Emotionally, it took her a long time to learn to trust people again but today she is absolutely loving life, enjoying the care and kindness she so truly deserves.

We adore our foster cats beyond words. Yes, they require extra care, extra patience and yes, financial support – but when we consider their past struggles, the efforts we’ve all made for them and where they are now (happy, loved, safe) – it feels that everything is 100% worth it. These precious little souls have never wronged anyone, yet life dealt them a rough hand. They offer boundless love and we are determined to make sure they are as happy and comfortable as they can possibly be.
